Mission Statement - Every Executive Needs One

I am having trouble deciding what I want to do on this blog for many reasons, but one of the biggest is that I am not much of a fan of the internet. To clarify, obviously I am online, but I don't go out of my way to spend my life on the web. I am not addicted to eBay or online poker or commercial porn sites (I don't think WatchersWeb counts). I would much rather go to a brick and mortar store instead of shopping online if all things were equal.

I think this "Ted Kazinski" view of the internet has a lot to do with my position and the company I work for. For one thing, I am usually on the road and too busy to saunter around town, so I am forced to rely on the internet for shopping, checking-out books from my library, renting DVD's, etc... Also For many years, my company has been EXTREMELY reliant on email and our intranet, and our policies actual promote making telephone and face-to-face contact more difficult. As my career has progressed, I have become less of a fan of the "digital highway". Give me a warm body sharing with me almost any experience over the cold, hard keyboard.

What I do like about the internet is personal journals or online diaries or blogs or whatever you want to call them. I try to read a few journals during the week.

This brings me closer to my point (I do have one). I am not an aspiring writer (god bless and good luck to those of you who are) or an accumulator of all things weird online (I envy your free time). I have no intention of making regular, sweeping posts which I hope to someday compile into a book, and please leave the pics of the hobos killed on train tracks in your drafts folder. Neither of those are my gig man.

"So, what is the Traveling Executive's Mission", I hear you ask. Well, kindly internet stalker (I mean fan), this blog is simply a repository of a few online tid-bits which I find interesting and a place to post a few thoughts that strike me as interesting.

Good enough? - TE
